Description
This twine is made from two strands of tarred hemp twisted with a left hand lay. It was very widely used as a serving when wire ropes were hand spliced to cover and protect the loose strands. The tar ensures its durability to the elements as well as protecting splices from water penetration. The smell is quite fantastic and I like to keep a roll onboard simply to impart an old world nautical atmosphere on the good ship. Tarred Marline 3 mm
Tarred twine.
I have been using your tarred twine for many years to train climbing roses in particular but other climbers as well. It is an ideal product for this job as it is both strong and water resistant but unlike plastic or metal ties it does not damage the roses themselves and is much easier to renew each season when tying in new growth. A great product! Thank you

The tarred Marline is very useful to the gardener needing string to survive damp conditions. The 1 mm is quite fine, and I will also be ordering the 2 mm.
