This has to be the greatest sporting event on earth!
Around the world, single handed, non-stop, in boats that go so fast that they almost fly.
It is a French race and deservedly so. The French love their sailing and they all get really involved. It's a big thing over La Manche but sadly in the UK we can sometimes struggle to follow it with the mainstream media. I'm definitely going to find a way to follow the race because Hugo Boss, skippered by Alex Thomson, the Welsh Sailor, is really in for a chance of winning.
The race starts on Sunday lunchtime. Why not go to the Vendée Globe website and download whatever apps are available so that you can to follow the boats? It will be really exciting!
