Saint James minquiers moderne - a reinvention of the classic minquiers. This breton top, the moderne, features a more contemporary fit than its predecessor . The minquiers moderne has long sleeves and a boat neck. The cut is form fitting along the body and arms. This is the lightest weight of our Breton shirts with an average of 185 grams (6.5oz), perfect for the summer months.
The Minquiers moderne is made from soft, high quality combed cotton. This striped Minquiers breton shirt is named for the rocks and islands of Minquiers, part of the Bailiwick of Jersey and near to Saint James' native coastline.
Saint James clothing was born in 1889 in the town of its namesake, located a few miles from the sea, and close to Mont Saint-Michel in Southern Normandy. The Saint James story began when the Legallais family started to spin and dye the local wool and sell the skeins and wool balls to the shops of Brittany and Normandy, later spinning the wool into shirts for the fishermen. Leon Legallais, the then mayor or Saint-James transformed this workshop into a large industry and in 1929 the company went public.
