Arthur Beale Class on Splicing Modern Ropes - SOLD OUT

Modern ropes such as Dyneema and Technora are many times stronger than steel but they are weakened by up to 70% if they are tied in a knot so they are always best spliced. This class will show you how to make a Dyneema strop or a soft shackle to take away. Entry £12.50 (High load eyes will be charged at cost if you want to incorporate it into your strop). SOLD OUT

Basic Seagoing Knots

Arthur Beale Splicing Class - SORRY FULL UP!

Come and learn to splice three strand rope at Arthur Beale. You will be shown how to make your own dog lead or lanyard that you can take away. We charge £12.50 for the evening including materials although the price could change slightly if you choose a more expensive fitting. Starts at 18:30 finished before 20:00 . Great fun! Arthur Beale are delighted to be able to confirm that Jane Maufe will be giving an illustrated presentation about her recent experience sailing with David Scott Cowper through the most Northern of the Northwest Passages. Jane Maufe is the four times great niece of Sir John Franklin, who was lost (along with his 129 crew) trying to chart and navigate a route through the Northwest Passage in 1845. Jane and David achieved the first ever transit through the most northerly route and it was the first by a woman.
